ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards announces theme and host venue for 2022 season

Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA) has announced the theme for 2022 ANZ FETA EVENT as “Celebrating Resilience and Recovery in Tourism”. FETA Chair Debra Sadranu said the theme was fitting of the overall objectives of FETA despite the unprecedented challenges faced by the industry due to Covid and is a celebration of the industry’s survival and accomplishment.

“Our stakeholders proved their resilience during the most challenging time our industry has ever faced. We not only sustained and recovered we went over and beyond to welcome our first visitor arrivals on the opening of borders”. FETA also announced Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa as the host venue for the 2022 ANZ FETA which will be held on Saturday 25th, February 2023. “I would like to thank Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa who have come back on board as our host venue again for this year. Feta truly appreciates their support in welcoming us back once
again,” Sadranu added.

Sofitel was the host venue in March of last year when FETA held a winner’s event for the industry. Vincent Macquet, General Manager of Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa, says that Sofitel is delighted to host the 2022 ANZ FETA Awards. “Since reopening our borders it has been exciting to watch tourism in Fiji come back with a vengeance. Over the past two years the industry has taken a huge hit, however one thing remained throughout and that is the gracious and heartfelt warmth of our Fijian spirit. We look forward to celebrating the huge achievements of our industry over the last 12 months with our peers.”

FETA also held a special acknowledgement presentation recognising a few individuals who were instrumental in creating/driving initiatives geared toward the reopening of our borders to visitors to Fiji. Minister of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, the Honourable Faiyaz Saddiq Koya was the chief guest at the presentation held at the Sofitel Ballroom today. “I welcome our honourable Minister of Commerce Tourism Trade and Transport Faiyaz Koya who has joined us today in recognising some of our people who were instrumental in preparations for border opening,” said Sadranu.

The deadline for the 2022 ANZ FETA is on Friday, November 4th and members of the tourism industry can make their submissions online until then. A record number of entries have been registered in all 20 categories which have increased this year from 13 showing the huge interest in this season’s awards. The 20 award categories will be given out on February 25th 2023 together with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement and Visionary Award
